The Drink Offering

I’ve heard it explained that in an arid land- such as ancient Israel- when a drink was offered or poured onto the ground/altar the liquid would be soaked into the earth almost immediately. Have you ever taken water and poured it onto a dry and dusty ground? I have… I grew up visiting my grandmother in South Texas where her “yard” was nothing but dirt and plants. (ie. no lawn) We would play with our G. I. Joe figures and build lakes and ponds for them by digging shallow holes and filling the holes with water. The problem was always that the water within a few seconds would be soaked into the parched dust as if there was no water ever poured. The drink offering was similar.

So when the apostle Paul wrote he was a drink offering we take that to mean his life was poured out as sacrifice for others. We borrowed that name for our ministry because we want to make much of Jesus and benefit others with little regard to our name being remembered. May Jesus gain glory from our lives and may many people get to know Him better.

Thanks for coming to our site and getting to know how you can partner with us in ministry!
